Agricultural Feed, Seed and Fertilizer Advisory Council

The Agricultural Feed, Seed and Fertilizer Advisory Council advises the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS) on feed, seed and fertilizer enforcement issues. This council serves as a statewide forum for the coordination of feed-, seed- and fertilizer-related activities and is tasked with the following duties:

• To receive reports of relevant enforcement activity conducted by FDACS, including the number of inspections, the number of administrative actions, the number of complaints received and investigated, and the dispositions of complaints;
• To provide advice to FDACS on the conduct of relevant enforcement activities;
• To receive reports on disciplinary actions; and
• To make recommendations to the Commissioner of Agriculture for actions to be taken with respect to the regulation of agricultural feed, seed and fertilizer.

The council operates under the authority of Section 570.451, Florida Statutes.

Membership

The Agricultural Feed, Seed and Fertilizer Advisory Council consists of 15 members. Membership is composed of one representative of FDACS; one representative of the dean for extension of the Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences at the University of Florida; one representative each from the state’s beef cattle, poultry, aquaculture, field crops, citrus, vegetable and dairy production industries; and two representatives each from the state’s fertilizer, seed and commercial feed industries.
