State Forest Fees

Effective July 1, 2020, fees for all day-use passes, annual passes, off-highway vehicle passes and camping reservations must be paid using our online payment system. All other recreation and forest use/product fees must be paid by check or money order through local forest offices. No cash payments are accepted.

State Forest Rules

In keeping with its mission to protect and manage Florida's forest resources for the present and future enjoyment of all Floridians, and to provide the greatest opportunity for a quality recreational experience, the Florida Forest Service has developed rules that apply to all visitors.

General

  • Possession of alcoholic beverages is prohibited where posted.
  • OHMs, ATVs and recreational off-highway vehicles (ROVs) are prohibited on state forests, except in designated riding areas at Tate's Hell State Forest, Withlacoochee State Forest and Blackwater River State Forest. Visit OHV Rules and Information for State Forests.
  • Removal or destruction of cultural artifacts, plants or animals is prohibited (with the exception of legal game during scheduled hunts).
  • Please take all garbage with you when you leave the forest if a container is not available in the area that you visit.
  • Leashed pets are welcome on most state forests in designated areas. Please check with the state forest you plan to visit.
  • All horses must have proof of current negative Coggins Test results when on state lands.
  • All equestrian riders under age 16 must, by law, wear a certified helmet on state forests. A parent or guardian of a child under 16 years of age may not authorize or knowingly permit a child to ride without a helmet. Responsibility lies with any trainer, instructor or supervisor who rents or leases an equine to be ridden by a child younger than 16 or rents or leases equine supplies.
  • Hunting and fishing in state forests are regulated by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, according to published seasons, license requirements, etc. Hunting requires a license and permit and is allowed only during established seasons.

On the Road

  • The speed limit on all roads within the forest is 30 mph unless posted otherwise.
  • Drive on designated roads only.
  • Do not obstruct roads, gates or fire lines.

In and Around Waterways

  • Swim in designated areas, at your own risk.
  • No rope swings or diving from stream banks or trees.
  • For safety reasons, glass containers are not allowed on any state forest waterways.
