Florida Statewide Endangered and Threatened Plant Conservation Program Proposal Format and Instructions

All proposals submitted to the Florida Statewide Endangered and Threatened Plant Conservation Program should deal directly with the recovery of federally listed plant species in Florida and should relate to the species' recovery plan or should explain why a non-listed species should be considered for funding. Multiyear projects must submit a proposal each year, as this program is funded on an annual basis by the federal government and is examined by a review committee each year. Interim and final reports are to be done in the same format as the proposal.

Each proposal should contain the information listed below:

  • Title: Title of project.
  • Need: State the problem that needs to be solved wholly or in part by this research.
  • Objectives: What is to be accomplished during the period of the project pursuant to the stated need? A project statement objective must specify fully what is to be accomplished within the time, money and staffing allocated; specify a recognizable end point; and be quantifiable or verifiable.
  • Expected Results or Benefits: Describe how the results will be used and how their use will resolve the need described.
  • Approach: How will the objective be attained? Include specific procedures, schedules, and, when required, key project personnel and cooperators. Number specific tasks.
  • Geographic Location: Identify where the work will be done. If the research involves field work, provide the location of the field work in addition to the location of the research facility.
  • Related Federal Projects
  • Cost Schedule: Cost per year to attain the objective. Refer back to tasks under the approach section and assign a federal dollar amount and a match amount for each task. Note: the amounts assigned each task can be estimates.
  • References

Tip: Run expected total costs through your contract manager to make sure ALL costs have been included, including estimated costs for overhead, salaries, etc.
