Trialeurodes Floridensis Quaintance
Trialeurodes floridensis Quaintance
Common name: avocado whitefly
Diagnosis: Pupal case pale green, semi-transparent, with obscure dark spots in subdorsal rows on thorax and abdomen. Nearly flat on leaf with a fringe of close set wax rods which curve downward toward leaf surface.
Comments: Pupal case of T. floridensis is similar in color to Dialeurodes citri and D. citrifolii, but these species lack the marginal fringe of wax rods and the subdorsal rows of dark spots. T. abutilonea and T. vaporariorum are similar, but they are elevated upon a palisade of wax rods while T. floridensis is nearly flat on the leaf or has a very short palisade of wax rods.
