Tallahassee, Fla. — Today, Agriculture Commissioner Nikki Fried, an independently-elected member of the Florida Cabinet, released a video message encouraging Floridians to wear masks and social distance at Labor Day weekend gatherings to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. Continuing to provide regular COVID-19 briefings, she again encouraged all those eligible to get vaccinated.

The video can be downloaded here and viewed on Twitter.

“On Labor Day weekend, we celebrate the workers who made a middle-class economy possible. But this year, we also remember the 45,909 Floridians lost to COVID-19, including many essential workers. We must honor their memory by doing everything we can to stop the spread and prevent further loss,” said Commissioner Fried. “As we head into the long weekend, when many are traveling or gathering together to celebrate the contributions of our American workforce and the labor movement – please wear a mask and social distance. And to anyone not yet vaccinated: please don’t wait any longer to get the shot. This is how we beat this virus, keeping our communities safe and economy strong.”
