Tallahassee, Fla. — Today, Florida Agriculture Commissioner Nikki Fried and State Representative Ramon Alexander (HD-8) held a press conference at Florida A&M University regarding continued inequity and chaos, confusion, and “red tape for medically vulnerable” for COVID-19 vaccines in Florida. The press conference was held at the Al Lawson, Jr. Multipurpose Center, a COVID-19 vaccine location.
In the press conference, Commissioner Fried called on the Governor to broaden the methods in which medically vulnerable Floridians can prove their vaccine eligibility, given the nearly 3 million Floridians without health insurance. Of vaccines administered so far in Florida, nearly 51 percent have been received by White residents, while less than 6 percent have gone to Black residents.
